MPFree Revolutionizes Industry through Free,
Legal, and Secure Music Downloads
Baltimore Times Originally posted 1/5/2007
(Syndicated News) Every day, millions of individuals download music
onto their personal computers. Sometimes the downloads occur illegally, have
membership fees, or are purchased on a trial basis. Whatever the situation,
purchasing music online has proven to be anything less than consistent.
“There are a number of big music sites out there,” states Phil Nadel,
president of MPFree.com. “All of the legal ones require customers to pay a
membership fee or a song-by-song download fee.”
MPFree offers free music
downloads to individuals that take advantage of offers from advertisers.
Downloads are rewarded on a registration basis — the more offers they agree to,
the more downloads they earn. Participants also earn free downloads by referring
friends. The idea is revolutionary to an industry known for pushing legal
boundaries and charging expensive download fees.
“The most popular site
is definitely iTunes,” says Nadel. “However, they charge 99 cents per song.
MPFree offers customers the same songs for free. We're the only site out there
which offers a free service compliant with all laws.”
Shareware Web sites
came into deep public scrutiny following the music copyright debates in the late
1990s. Shareware works on a peer-to-peer basis; members download songs from
other individual's computers and, in the process, break copyright laws developed
to protect musicians. It's a practice which brings heavy legal consequences to
the individuals involved. MPFree's music collection is entirely paid for through
advertising, not the listener.
According to Nadel, MPFree's entire
750,000 song library includes only original performances by the original
artists.
“We don't believe in compromising when it comes to authenticity.
Music fans want their music to be top quality, and second-rate reproductions are
not top quality.
